Well... Today started well. I couldn't sleep... AT ALL. I sat there staring at the ceiling trying to get comfertable while Stix made a racket in his cage half the night... then later on for what ever reason Max not only came into my room... he went through a maze of dirty clothes to chill under my desk which he has never done before EVER. Then at 7 something mom came in to wake me up to get ready for a Doc Appointment with Dr. Klebe. Seeing as how I didn't get a wink of sleep... I was up and going before she was. Went to appointment and got a personal record setting five, you saw that right amigos, FIVE toenails yanked at the same time bringing the grand total to over 12 toenails removed before I get out of my teenage years, which is in just four days.

And if that's not just the swellest thing ever! the day just went down hill from there and totally tanked to yet another record low that night.

Due to the more then obvious pain in my feet and utter lack of rest that morning it's safe to assume that when I got home a little after noon I tanked out in my bedroom, and mom let Max outside, and had to hold him up so he could go pee because his legs kept going out on him. Now Max, my beloved pure breed German Sheperd (Who I can be quoted as lovingly calling 'Mutt' for kicks far more often then Max) hadn't eaten in almost three days, even then he only ate very little and had gone almost three days prier without eating. On top of that he pretty much has... had... been throwing up everything right, left, and down the middle. So when mom got home around 7pm, I was only partially awake because the pain-killers had long gone out on me and I couldn't get comfertable, meanwhile she found Max laying down outside in a pool of his own vomit (which is about 90% just water and a chunk or two of chicken he ate and some grass) and could NOT stand up. Even with both me and her trying to help him every way we could. So we managed to drag him inside and tried to see if he would eat or drink, which he refused. Mom, in tears and sobbing finally belived it time to take him in and say our good byes, but not with out asking me if I agreed about 80 times. I just answered each time with a blank stare as I slowly petted his skin and bones back while he looked back at me with the sadest eyes I had ever seen face to face, while inside I wrestled with the repeated question. I didn't want him to suffer any longer, but being the un-godly stubborn being that I am also mentally refused to give up hope in him, even though at the same time I knew there was no hope, and that only made things harder to bare. So mom called the vet, and we used his old blanket to get him into the back of the outlander and drove him to the vet in his last car ride. I sat in the backset petting him while mom drove. Once we got going a new life seemed to take over him and he went from bring droopy and weak to lifting his head and actively scanning out the windows as we drove by. Once there we were lucky enough to be able to back into the spot right infront of the door so me and one of the nurses carried him into the room while mom trialed us balling her eyes out. Up on that little counter top he looked so frail and old. A stark contrast to the strong, big, healthy and surprisingly young looking Mutt he had been less then a month before, even with a grapefruit sized growth on his cheek. They gave us several minutes in the room with him alone before the Vet came in and told us both what to expect and that his ashes would be ready in a few weeks. Then after getting a small clay paw print of his left front paw and giving it to us, she stuck the needle of peaceful eternal sleep in his arm while me and mom sat there petting his head. Me quiet, but teery eyed, and mom gushing like Niagra falls while his head slowly slumbed down for the last time. Then we left after saying our last good byes and drove off. Once in the car it was my turn to snap and cry.

Good friend, and faithful guardian of me and my mother for over twelve years, a stubborn a Mutt as I've ever meet who the vets said would die months ago after that damned cist started growing on your fussy cheek, Mom swore she wouldn't have a dog named Max and yet that's what everone called you, here's hoping you're in a far happier place right now, for you deserve it my old friend.

Now as for me... Take a wild guess how *not* great I'm feeling right now... *kicks this shity ass day till it bleeds more then his toes are right now... then spits as he wipes his eyes, turns his back and walks away*.
